Objectives of the Religious Education Program
The Religious Education program uses a traditional classroom setting format beginning with 4-year old kindergarten through Junior year (Confirmation). We are proud to also offer a Special Education Program.
1. To teach the Message contained in Scripture, Revelation and Catholic Tradition in order to help your child build the foundation of knowledge on which a mature religious decision may one day be made. The content for this program follows the norms established in the National Catechetical Directory: Sharing the Light of Faith.
2. To create awareness of the responsibilities which arise from your child.s relationship with God and others by teaching them the Mission of the Church and providing opportunities for them to be of service to others.
3. To provide opportunities to pray and worship through a variety of prayer forms and liturgies.
4. To provide programs for parents to assist them in their responsibilities for the Christian development of their child.

Religious Education Policies
Listed below are some of the main policies for the Religious Education Program.
1. No new registrations will be accepted after November 1st unless a family has moved into the area or a child is transferring from another program.
2. The student to teacher ratio shall be no more than 15:1. Students will be assigned to a classroom on a first come-first serve basis. The order of classroom assignments will be based upon the postmark of the returned registration forms. If we have more students than available catechists, a waiting list will be created. As new catechists come forward, students will be removed from the waiting list and given a classroom assignment. Students on a waiting list will be notified in June. Classroom assignments will be mailed by the end of August.
3. If a child is entering the program for the first time and is enrolling in a grade where a sacrament is received (2nd or 11th) and he/she was not in a Religious Education Program/Catholic School the previous year, he/she will be placed in Grade 1 or 4 respectively, so that they can receive sufficient religious training before receiving the sacrament.
Snow Day Policy:
1. If Saint Jude the Apostle Day School, Wauwatosa School District or Milwaukee Public Schools cancels classes, Religious Education classes for that day are also cancelled.
2. If weather is in question as a Monday progresses and Saint Jude the Apostle Day School does have class, please listen to the radio for a cancellation notice. We will notify Radio Stations WTMJ or WISN by 4:00 p.m. if there is a cancellation.
3. Kindergarten, Special Education and High School classes held on Sundays should follow the same protocol. We will notify the radio stations by 7:00 a.m. on Sunday morning in cases of severe weather.
