The ultimate goal of the 5th grade curriculum is to prepare each student for the challenges of middle school. Students are provided a variety of opportunities to foster emotional and intellectual maturity. Academics are balanced with a focus on faith. Through prayer and service we foster a respect for self, God ,and others. With the cooperation of parents, we strive to meet the individual needs of our diverse fifth graders
MIDDLE SCHOOL RELIGION
The 6th grade course of study in Religion centers on the scriptures of the Old Testament. Religion class in 7th grade focuses upon the Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ. 8th grade students concentrate on the history of our Catholic Faith. All students of Religion experience intensive Bible study and specialized spiritual retreats.
Another important component to our Religion curriculum is the Service Hours/Servant Leadership expectation. Please see the handbook for specifics pertaining to each grade. Opportunities for participation in All-school liturgies exist for all middle school students, along with the potential for inclusion in contests related to this field of study.
Prayer is an essential part of our time together in the classroom. Various forms of prayer are introduced to the students. Music and meditation are also utilized to enhance the experience of both public and private prayer. Middle school religion strives to assist each student in their quest to develop a closer relationship with God.
